Vulcan Energy has reached a key milestone, starting the commissioning phase of its lithium electrolysis plant in Germany, supporting Europe's push for critical raw material independence.

Vulcan Energy Resources Limited has announced the commissioning of its Central Lithium Electrolysis Optimisation Plant (CLEOP) in Frankfurt-Höchst, Germany. This facility will process lithium chloride from the company’s operations in Landau into battery-grade lithium hydroxide monohydrate, a crucial material for electric vehicle batteries. Power has been fed into the plant for the first time, marking a significant step forward in the project. CLEOP is designed as a pre-commercial plant, intended to fine-tune processes and train personnel ahead of commercial production. This facility is part of Vulcan’s strategy to strengthen Europe's autonomy in the electric vehicle supply chain, providing a local source of battery materials from European lithium resources.
