Together with the French start-up GEOLITH, EnBW succeeded in extracting lithium from the Bruchsal brine for the first time - although on a smaller scale. For this purpose, the pilot plant designed and constructed by GEOLITH was installed in Bruchsal for several weeks.
The technology of the Li-Capt® extraction process is based on microfiber-based material with selective absorption properties, which acts as an ion sieve. For EnBW, operator of the Bruchsal geothermal plant, this is an important step towards the long-term establishment of an effective and environmentally friendly process for direct lithium extraction.
